Host City: Toronto

Toronto has long been a central hub for Canadian soccer, with early roots in community clubs and immigrant-driven leagues that flourished throughout the 20th century. The city’s professional soccer journey gained momentum with the Toronto Blizzard in the NASL, but it was the launch of Toronto FC in 2007 that marked a turning point. As Canada’s first Major League Soccer team, TFC quickly built a passionate fan base and made history by winning the domestic treble in 2017, including the MLS Cup. BMO Field, home to Toronto FC and the Canadian national teams, has hosted multiple international matches and tournaments.
Toronto will host 6 matches, including Canada’s tournament opener at BMO Field from June 12th to July 2nd, 2026. Toronto’s rich football heritage dates back over a century, hosting Canada’s first World Cup qualifiers in 1957 and serving as club HQ during the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup™. The city’s landmark event was Canada’s decisive 2022 qualifier win over Jamaica, ending a 36-year World Cup drought and cementing BMO Field’s 100% competitive home-match unbeaten record.
